album review · posted 2026 · tapes archive

This is my first review on this site. I’ll keep it focused on the music rather than going off on tangents about me.

First of all, this album feels really nostalgic to me. While listening to it, it feels warm. I found this accidentally while spotify started auto-playing songs and I came across snowing, all at once (track 6) and it didn't hit me like some random song but I really enjoyed it, so I just put it in my to-do playlist and left it for a month.

And here we are now so I'll just straight into it.

TRACK 01
intro
what a strong start to the album. i instantly knew from hearing this how much it sounds like BCNR (review coming soon). the tremolo at the start is definately a great way to start without taking too much attention from the saxophones, which by the way, has some beautiful layering by the way. the swells and layer kinda feels like the sea going up and down which i really like. while it is a short track, definately very good and nice.
TRACK 02
annie
first time hearing a guitar on this album, and it does NOT fail to impress. one detail i must point out is before sam d starts singing how it sort of has reverb, small detail but i love it. annie sort of has a nice mellow sound like a campfire song. but thats when the strings hit and it gets elevated, let me tell you that. (the progression in the song is amazing as well). all the layers work so well and i think that just one really good thing about RMP does so well on this album.
TRACK 03
reichenbach falls
boom. into the energy. just like that. and to say the clarinent / sax / i don't even know playing on this album is great would definetely be an understatement. the drums as well are amazing. then it goes into a really nice jazzy build up before again, the almost hypnotic, catchy riff of the song. i definetely understand why some people say this is the best track, and dont get me wrong, this is my second favorite if it was for the song coming up.
